The graduation ceremony of the University of the Third Age in Košice took place on 17 May 2023 in Aula Maxima, on the campus of the Technical University of Košice, which ended the academic year 2022/23. After a two-year break, which was related to the spreading COVID-19 disease and the aim to protect the most at-risk group of people - seniors, our oldest students for their determination to sit again in the university benches, and their efforts to study, received the Certificate from the Vice-Rector for Education of TUKE, prof. Ing. Ervin Lumnitzer, PhD with joy and eager expectation. The number of graduates after the pandemic break dropped by almost half compared to previous years. A total of 59 students graduated in 5 fields of study:

• Psychohygiene – 24 students
• History of Art – 12 students
• Košice at the Crossroads of History – 10 students
• Pharmacy – 8 students
• Veterinary Medicine – 5 students

As a sign of respect and gratitude, the Vice-Rector for Education presented a commemorative medal to Ms Betíková Zuzana, born 1938, as the oldest female graduate of University of the Third Age  this year and Ing. Lopatník Juraj, born 1941, as the oldest male graduate this year. For the long-standing cooperation, support and active approach in spreading the idea of senior education and the overall activation of the elderly in Slovakia, the medal was also given to Ing. Lucia Hrebeňárová, President of the Association of Universities of Third Age in Slovakia.

After the graduation ceremony, the children from the Akademik kindergarten, which cooperates with the Technical University of Košice, presented their nice programme to put a smile on the faces of all present.
