The Ambassador of India Visited TUKE
On October 17, 2023, the management of the Technical University of Košice welcomed the Ambassador of India J.E. Apoorva Srivastava at the University grounds.
The Ambassador was greeted by the Rector of the University Prof. Ing. Peter Mésároš, PhD. And the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Mobility Prof. Ing. Ján Piteľ, PhD.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the University faculties where Indian students study. During her visit to the University, the Ambassador was also warmly welcomed by representatives of Indian students.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss the development of mutual relations and the needs of Indian students studying at the Technical University of Košice.
After the introduction of the Technical University of Košice and the Ambassador’s speech, the Rector of the University opened the discussion. The focus of the discussion was on the difficulties and opportunities faced by Indian students during their studies in Slovakia. In addition, there were issues related to the conditions that the University provides for its international students, such as academic and social support, cultural integration, and career perspectives. Participating faculty representatives presented to the Ambassador their experiences regarding the teaching of Indian students, their adaptation, and current needs.
In the discussion, the representatives of the university management reaffirmed the university’s commitment to provide a diverse and inclusive academic environment and to provide the necessary support for international students to successfully master their studies and further develop their potential.
The Ambassador appreciated the approach of the University and its interest in creating conditions to facilitate the adaptation of Indian students towards studying in a new academic and social environment, opportunities for their internationalisation and the mentoring provided during their studies.
The visit established the foundations for strengthening academic cooperation between the University and India. Potential academic partnerships, mobility exchange programmes and scientific cooperation were also discussed, which are also beneficial for the Indian student community. It was emphasized that the University is interested in involving Indian students in international mobility and student activities organized by the Ulysseus Alliance of European Universities, of which TUKE is a member.
At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their interest in further talks and cooperation.
This visit represents a significant step forward in building strong academic and cultural relations between the Technical University of Košice and India, with the aim of providing the best possible educational experience to Indian students and promoting international cooperation in higher education.
