About the Faculty

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Metallurgical Faculty, now the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy, and Recycling (FMMR), the faculty has educated more than 4,600 engineers, including 110 international graduates from countries such as Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Yemen, Jordan, Korea, Cuba, Laos, Madagascar, Mongolia, Nigeria, Peru, Syria, Vietnam, and Libya.

The main priorities for the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy, and Recycling have always been expertise, practical application, employability, and a family-like atmosphere. Another important priority is to inspire young people and show them a path to the future in a modern world surrounded by digitization and green technologies. Equally important is the continuous self-education of FMMR educators to ensure they are prepared to meet the needs of tomorrow.

The world needs metals, materials, and technologies. There are many reasons to study at FMMR. The faculty collaborates with major industrial companies, offers students access to state-of-the-art laboratories, and provides opportunities to study and work abroad. A significant benefit for students is the cooperation with companies during their studies. FMMR's research and education focus on meeting industry needs and company requirements. The faculty specializes in shaping the chemical essence, structure, and final properties of materials, their production and processing through metallurgical methods, and their recycling. Through the dedication and innovation of all its scientific-pedagogical staff and employees, the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy, and Recycling has become a reliable part of the Technical University of Košice and a leading scientific-research and educational institution in metallurgy and material technologies. Its impact and results extend beyond Slovakia and Central Europe.
