About the Faculty
The Faculty of Aeronautics at the Technical University of Košice (LF TUKE) was established on February 1, 2005, as the ninth faculty of the Technical University of Košice. Its establishment continues the world-renowned tradition of aviation education in Košice. Since 2016, alongside the preparation of aviation specialists for civilian aviation, it also provides higher education for the needs of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic. Since 2017, practical training for professional pilots and aviation technical personnel has been provided in collaboration with the Slovak Training Academy at Košice Airport.
The Faculty of Aeronautics offers higher education for aviation professionals through accredited study programmes at all three levels of higher education: Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral. The modern and attractive study programmes fully reflect the requirements of national and European aviation legislation, significantly expanding the employability of its graduates across Europe. University education, research, and development are carried out in the core areas of aviation – air transport management, aerospace engineering, and aviation safety and operations. The faculty prepares aviation experts for positions as professional pilots, air traffic controllers, aviation technicians for aircraft airframes, engines, and avionics systems maintenance, and aviation managers for both civilian and military aviation. The faculty is the only one in the Slovak academic environment holding a wide range of certifications from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Slovak Republic and the Department of State Administration in Military Aviation of the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic, certifying its competence in the training of pilots, air traffic control personnel, and aviation technical staff in compliance with EU aviation legislation. In research, the faculty is involved in significant European projects and collaborates with numerous aviation-related institutions in Slovakia and around the world.
