Inauguration of Dean of the Faculty of Aeronautics
On Thursday 6 May 2021, the inauguration of doc. Ing. Peter Korba, PhD., Ing.Paed.IGIP, who was elected as a candidate for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Aeronautics on 14 December 2020 by secret ballot of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Aeronautics of the Technical University of Košice, was held.
As part of the ceremony, doc. Ing. Peter Korba, PhD., Ing.Paed.IGIP gave his solemn undertaking received by the Chairman of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Aeronautics, Ing. Jozef Galanda, PhD., Ing.Paed.IGIP and received the appointment decree to the position of Dean of the Faculty of Aeronautics of the Technical University of Košice (for the period from May 2021 to 30 April 2025), with all rights and obligations under the Higher Education Act, from his magnificence Dr. h. c. prof. h. c. prof. Ing. Stanislav Kmeť, DrSc., Rector of the Technical University of Košice. Subsequently, he took over the symbol of the dean’s function, the chain of the Faculty of Aeronautics, from the hands of previous Dean of the Faculty of Aeronautics, Dr. h. c. prof. h. c. doc. Ing. Stanislav Szabo, PhD., MBA, LL.M, mim. prof.
Doc. Ing. Peter Korba, PhD., Ing.Paed.IGIP was born in Humenné in 1984. After graduating from high school in his hometown, he continued his studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Košice, where he was awarded a Master of Science degree in 2010. In 2013, he received a PhD degree at the Faculty of Aeronautics of the Technical University of Košice in the field of study Motor Vehicles, Rail Vehicles, Ships and Aircrafts. He received the scientific-pedagogical degree of Associate Professor in the same field of study after working on the topic The use of innovative tools to ensure technical safety of aircraft components. Between the years 2013 and 2017, he worked at the Faculty of Aeronautics as a researcher, and later as an assistant professor. He held the position of Vice-Dean for Science and Research at the Faculty of Aeronautics until 2020. In 2019-2020, he worked as an advisor to the Director for the Development of Aeronautical Medicine in Slovakia at Nemocnica sv. Michala /St. Michael´s Hospital/ in Košice. He is a member of the board for scientific research activities of the Znalecký ústav bezpečnosti a ochrany zdraví /Expert Institute of Safety and Health Protection/ in Prague, and is also a member of editorial boards in several prestigious international scientific journals.
