Additional Award Ceremony – The 2020 Science and Technology Award
On Thursday, 16 March 2023, the Technical University of Košice was honoured with the visit of Mgr. Ján Horecký, Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic together with Ms. Jana Lysáková, General Director of the Minister's Office. In the presence of the Rector of TUKE, Dr. h. c. prof. h. c. Prof. Ing. Stanislav Kmeť, DrSc., and Director of the Institute of Materials Research of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, doc. RNDr. Pavel Hvizdoš, DrSc., the Minister additionally presented awards to the personalities who received the 2020 Science and Technology Award in the following categories:
In the category of Personality of Science and Technology the award has been given to:
Prof. Ing. Ivo Petráš, DrSc., Institute of Control and Informatization of Production Processes, Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnologies TUKE, for his extraordinary contribution to the development of science and technology on a global scale, linking theory and practical applications, extensive international and multidisciplinary acclaim.
Prof. RNDr. Ján Dusza, DrSc., Institute of Materials Research of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Košice, for nationally recognized significant contribution in the field of research and development of advanced ceramic materials.
In the category Popularizer of Science the award has been given to:
Prof. Ing. Michal Hatala, PhD., Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies based in Prešov, TUKE for contribution in the field of production technologies, applied research, successful solution of national, international projects, innovative technological solutions in the industry and building intensive cooperation between the university and the industry.
