Ambassador of Singapore visited TUKE

On 28 July 2023 the Technical University of Košice (TUKE) was honoured by a visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Singapore Mr. Chay Wai Chuen, who was accompanied by Ms. Esther Lee from the European Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore.

The Ambassador was welcomed by the Vice­‑Rector for International Relations and Mobilities Prof. Ing. Radovan Hudák, PhD., together with the Vice Dean for Project Coordination and Technology Transfer and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science doc. Ing. Martin Chovanec, PhD., Vice­‑Dean for Innovation, Technology Transfer and Internal Relations of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of TUKE Prof. Ing. Tomáš Brestovič, PhD. and Ing. Natália Vašková, PhD. from the Division of International Relations and Mobilities of the TUKE Rectorate.

During the meeting, significant activities and projects of TUKE in the field of education, research and development and international partnerships were presented. The Vice­‑Rector for International Relations and Mobilities of TUKE Prof. Hudák also presented the Ulysseus Alliance of European Universities, of which TUKE is a member. Vice­‑Dean doc. Chovanec informed the guests about the educational and scientific activities of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of TUKE and Vice­‑Dean Prof. Brestovič presented the achievements of the Faculty in the field of hydrogen technologies.

After the introductory meeting, the representatives of TUKE guided the Ambassador through selected departments and laboratories of the University. The delegation visited the laboratories of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Measurement, the Departments of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (SJF) and the University Science Park (UVP) Technicom. The Ambassador saw the first Slovak hydrogen bus, which uses unique certified metal hydride­‑based hydrogen storage tanks developed at the SjF TUKE for hydrogen storage. He then had the opportunity to see the first Slovak hydrogen car concept MH2, developed by SJF TUKE in cooperation with Matador Group.

The next point of the programme was a visit to the University Science Park (UVP) Technicom. The Ambassador was welcomed by JUDr. Peter Čižmár, PhD., LL.M. from the Intellectual Property Protection Unit of UVP Technicom and Ing. Miroslav Janák, PhD., Project Manager of UVP Technicom, who introduced UVP Technicom and its major projects to the attendees.

During the final discussion, the Ambassador declared his interest in supporting the development of bilateral cooperation between TUKE and universities and research institutes in Singapore.
