The sixth annual TOP Student Project competition, which seeks out projects with innovative and business potential, saw record interest with as many as 76 submitted projects from three universities in Košice. The expert jury evaluated the entries in four categories: Digital Business, Health, Manufacturing, and Society & Art. The competition is organized by the Technical University of Košice and Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions Slovakia in collaboration with UPJŠ and UVLF.

[🥇] The competition’s awards ceremony took place on September 24, 2026, and out of the four categories evaluated, students from TUKE won in three of them:

📍 In the Digital Business category, Boris Daňko from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at TUKE, with a thesis titled: “A Universal Technology Library for a Selected Content Management System”
📍 In the Manufacturing category, Jaroslav Kessler from the Faculty of Aeronautics at TUKE, with the thesis titled: “Optimization of the Mechanical Properties of Thermoplastic Polymers in the Additive Manufacturing Process and Their Application in the Design of Selected Aircraft Components”
📍 In the Society & Art category, Kristína Gvozdiaková from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at TUKE, with the thesis titled: “Segmentation of Ionospheric Structures in Images from All-Sky Cameras”

👏 The Special TUKE Rector’s Award, presented for the first time, was awarded to Richard Póša from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at TUKE for his thesis titled: “Scenario-Based Overload Simulator for the German Power Grid”
