The best university athlete is from TUKE
The best university athlete in Slovakia for the year 2024 is our student Nora Jenčušová.
Twenty‑two‑year‑old student of the Technical University in Košice, Faculty of Production Technologies based in Prešov, had an exceptionally successful sports season in 2024. She brought back a complete medal collection from the 2024 Academic Road Cycling World Championships in San Carlos, Costa Rica – she won gold in the individual road race, silver in the criterium and bronze in the time trial. Overall, the Slovak University Team's expedition in Costa Rica was the most successful Slovak cyclists' outing at a university world championship to date. It was also part of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris 2024, where it represented Slovakia in road cycling – in the women's individual time trial in the women's mass start race. 🚴♀️
During the acceptance of the award she also commented on the reconciliation of sport and studies at TUKE "I am very happy about the award and I did not expect it. It was definitely the hardest season of my life and it gave me a hard time. Right after the Academic World Championships in May, I was finishing my Bachelor's degree with state exams and the Olympic Games in Paris were waiting for me. It's not easy to juggle professional sport and studying, but anything is possible if you want to."
