The annual tradition of the Košice Self-Governing Region (KSK) is the awarding of the highest awards of the regional self-government:

  • The Košice Self-Governing Region Award
  • Historical Personality of the Region
  • Honorary Citizenship of the Košice Self-Governing Region
  • The Award of the President of the Košice Self-Governing Region

These awards are handed out once a year by the KSK to individuals and collectives, primarily for their special contribution to the development of the KSK, for outstanding results achieved in the fields of humanitarian, religious, technical, cultural and artistic, journalistic, public service, medical, business and sports activities, for their contribution towards the development and friendship between nations and regions, and to personalities who have significantly influenced the historical development of the Košice Region through their life-long efforts.

 

In 2023, the “Award of the President of the Košice Self-Governing Region” was awarded to
Dr. h. c. prof. Ing. Martina Zeleňáková, PhD. from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, TUKE

 

Dr. h. c. prof. Ing. Martina Zeleňáková, PhD. is an internationally established scientific authority with a significant creative and research activity in the field of water management, environmental engineering and water structures. She is also engaged in her professional practice as an authorized engineer of engineering structures – water management structures, in flood protection and water retention measures engineering. She is also a qualified expert for the assessment of environmental impact of activities in the field of environmental science, water management and water structures.

Dr. h. c. prof. Ing. Martina Zeleňáková, PhD. is one of the organizers, scientific/expert garant of international events in Slovakia and abroad. As a result of foreign visits to prominent academic institutions, she has developed excellent forms of cooperation, especially in the form of cooperative projects with significant outputs. She actively cooperates with the Ministry of the Environment, the Slovak Environmental Agency, and other important institutions, which brings great benefits to the region.

We would like to congratulate Dr. h. c. prof. Ing. Martina Zeleňáková, PhD. and wish a great deal of further success.
