On 18 November 2020, 27 new university professors collected the appointment decrees in the fields of habilitation procedure and appointment procedure (HP and AP) from the hands of the President of the Slovak Republic, H.E. Zuzana Čaputová, in the presence of the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport, Branislav Gröhling. Among the newly appointed professors were also members of the academic community of the Technical University of Košice.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic has announced "Science and Technology Week in Slovakia 2020". During this week, a competition for the best doctoral thesis took place at the Technical University of Košice, where full-time doctoral students from individual TUKE faculties presented their work in the form of an online presentation to the TUKE Committee for Science and Research. The presentations were evaluated in terms of (scientific) content, as well as in terms of the quality of the presentation design.

Through the committee of the Section for Scientific and Technical Literature and Computer Programs, the Literary Fund has granted awards for works published in the previous year, 2019. The awards also went to the employees of the Technical University of Košice.

The European Commission has published the results of the second call of the European Universities Initiative under the Erasmus+ programme. Twenty-four new projects, creating transnational alliances of higher education institutions from across the EU, have been selected. Among the approved projects is the ULYSSEUS alliance (“An open to the world, persons-centred and entrepreneurial European University for the citizenship of the future”), of which the Technical University of Košice is a member, as the only technically-oriented university from Slovakia.
