Results of the Competition for the Best Doctoral Thesis at TUKE 2020

University Highlights

The Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic has announced "Science and Technology Week in Slovakia 2020". During this week, a competition for the best doctoral thesis took place at the Technical University of Košice, where full-time doctoral students from individual TUKE faculties presented their work in the form of an online presentation to the TUKE Committee for Science and Research. The presentations were evaluated in terms of (scientific) content, as well as in terms of the quality of the presentation design. The Committee selected the following 4 best of the 18 works presented online

From a scientific point of view, the following works were evaluated as the best:

Mgr. Jana Gamcová – Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling (FMMR)
Topic: Use of magnetic micro wires in biological applications
Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Pavol Hvizdoš, DrSc.

Ing. Róbert Figmig – Faculty of Civil Engineering (SvF)
Topic: Study of the capillary-pore structure of the binder phase for the design of sustainable cement composites
Supervisor: prof. RNDr. Adriana Eštoková, PhD.

From a point of view of presentation, the following works were evaluated as the best:

Ing. Ľubomír Kseňák - Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnologies (FBERG)
Topic: InSAR data and research on land changes caused by recent geological processes
Supervisor: doc. Ing. Katarína Pukanská, PhD.

Ing. Renáta Olejárová – Faculty of Economics (EkF)
Topic: Data diagnostics and analysis of behavioural patterns in supply chains
Supervisor: doc. Ing. Radoslav Delina, PhD.

We warmly congratulate all the winners and wish them many more successes in creative scientific work. The awards will be presented to the winners in the presence of the Rector, Dr. h. c. prof. h. c. prof. Ing. Stanislav Kmeť, DrSc., and the Vice-Rector for Science, Research and Doctoral Study, prof. Ing. Ivo Petráš, DrSc.
