In October, two students of the Technical University of Košice took part in the second edition of the IT Talent programme Seeds for the Future in China organised by Huawei, which in this way seeks to encourage talented students in the field of information and communication technologies. This year the Slovak team consisted of 10 students who were selected from five Slovak universities. The Technical University of Košice was represented by Simona Korkobcová and Ladislav Pomšár, who are the students of the study programme Intelligent Systems at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics.
16-day programme was carried out in three major cities. In Beijing they had the opportunity to learn the basics of the Chinese language, writing and Chinese culture through the study at a specialized language university - Beijing Language and Culture University. They found out more about the Chinese history by visiting ancient monuments, including the Great Wall of China or the Forbidden City.
In Shenzhen, in turn, they focused on developing professional skills. During the week, which they spent in the headquarters of Huawei, they had the opportunity to gain knowledge as well as practical experience in working with the latest telecommunications technologies. Primarily it concerned the field of 4G and 5G networks, IoT and cloud. They also had the opportunity to look into the actual Huawei research, while visiting 5G laboratories and Huawei exhibition centre. During the closing ceremony, which took place with the participation of high level representatives of Huawei and the Ministries of Education of Malaysia and Brunei, they were handed out certificates of programme completion.
They spent their last day visiting Hong Kong.
