On 13 September 2023, forty-eight new university professors took over their appointment decrees in the field of the habilitation and inauguration proceedings (HK and IK) from the President of the Slovak Republic, Zuzana Čaputová. Among the newly appointed professors were also members of the academic community of the Technical University of Košice:

• prof. Ing. Samer Khouri, PhD., from the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling appointed in the field of HP and AP “Acquisition and Processing of Earth Sources”,

• prof. Ing. Peter Blišťan, PhD., from the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling appointed in the field of HP and AP “Acquisition and Processing of Earth Sources”,

• prof. Ing. Marian Šofranko, PhD., from the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling appointed in the field of HP and AP “Acquisition and Processing of Earth Sources”,

• prof. Ing. Ivan Virgala, PhD., from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUKE appointed in the field of HP and AP “Mechanical Engineering”.

“The quality of your contribution to the development of education will be evaluated not only by the number of graduates, doctoral students and associate professors you will educate, but also by the quality of the textbooks you will provide for your students, the lectures you will educate and inspire them with, but most of all, by the requirements you will demand for their work as well as your own,” the President addressed to the new university professors in her speech.
