The Slovak Academy of Sciences, the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, the Technical University of Košice and the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The main objective is to create a group of lead scientific and educational institutions of the Slovak Republic which will work together to improve the provision of higher education and contribute to the development of science, education and culture of the society as a "scientific cluster".

The scientific cluster and the key points of cooperation were presented by the rectors of the three universities in Košice and the president of the Academy of Sciences at a joint press briefing held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 1pm in the boardroom of the Rectorate at Letná 9, Košice.
