Innovator of the Year and Technologist of the Year from TUKE

University Highlights

The anniversary 25th annual event Scientist of the Year of the Slovak Republic of 2021 was held on June 14, 2022, in the Moyzes Hall of the Faculty of Arts of the Comenius University in Bratislava.

The ceremony was traditionally organised by the Centre of Scientific and Technical Information of the Slovak Republic  (CVTI SR), the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) and the Association of Slovak Scientific and Technological Societies (ZSVTS). The objective was to professionally and socially highlight the most significant personalities of the scientific sphere, as well as the best achievements in science and research in Slovakia.

The awards were presented in five categories: Scientist of the Year, Young Scientist, Innovator of the Year, Technologist of the Year, and Personality of International Cooperation.

From TUKE, personalities of the scientific sphere were awarded in two categories: Innovator of the Year and Technologist of the Year.

  • the Innovator of the Year:
    prof. Ing. Tomáš Brestovič, PhD.
    , from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Košice. He convinced the members of the commission with his innovative research and implementation of unique hydrogen technologies in the automotive industry and energy.
  • the Technologist of the Year:
    prof. Ing. Michal Hatala, PhD.
    , from the Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies of the Technical University of Košice based in Prešov. He received the award for his contribution to the application of progressive methods of non-destructive inspection and testing in technical practice.
