The Ján Bahýľ Prize was awarded to the team from TUKE

University Highlights

The team from the Technical University in Košice has been awarded the Ján Bahýľ Prize for patent No. 288407, entitled Method of the disposal of cyanobacteria in stagnant waters and a device for its implementation. The originators of the patent are: prof. Ing. Dušan Šebo, PhD., Dr. h. c. mult. prof. Ing. Miroslav Badida, PhD., doc. Ing. Juraj Šebo, PhD. and Ing. Monika Fedorčáková, PhD. from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, TUKE.

The prize was awarded by the Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic on 29 September 2021 at the 21st annual conference entitled Intellectual Property and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises: Protect Your Idea!, which took place in Banská Bystrica.

Since 1999, the Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic has been awarding the Ján Bahýľ Prize to Slovak originators and owners of patents, utility models and designs for their exceptional technical or design solutions in order to increase creativity in Slovakia.

About the patent: The method and device for the destruction of cyanobacteria in stagnant waters can be advantageously used for the disposal of cyanobacteria in stagnant waters intended for drinking water supply, or for bathing, fish farming, and where it is necessary to ensure the quality of micro-life in the water and to reduce the degree of water eutrophication.
