Exhibition: "Seven Decades of TUKE"
On the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Technical University of Košice, an exhibition entitled "Seven Decades of TUKE" has been installed on the exhibition premises of the University Science Park TECHNICOM. Its intention was to introduce visitors to a cross-section of seven decades in the life of one of the leading universities in Slovakia. The author of the exhibition, Róbert Klik, has prepared a comprehensive concept including all significant milestones from history. They gradually build on the current main pillars of the University: Education, Science and Research, Innovation, and, last but not least, Culture and Sport. The vast majority of snapshots are the artistic manuscript of the exhibition's author. The exhibition also includes historical photographs from the TUKE Archive which have been presented to the public for the first time.
In parallel, along with the historical and photographic exhibition of „Seven Decades of TUKE", another exhibition entitled "Organic Structures" has been presented. It captures and presents the work of two sculptors Marián Straka (1976) and Michal Machciník (1989). Even though these were their separate programmes, the combination of these two authors generates certain similarities, analogies, and, common features of their artwork, although, it is not their direct intention. Both of them deal with the topic of nature and civilization, including their mutual overlapping, where nature is a part of the culture and at the same time, it is confronted with the negative effects of civilization progress. Both are based on the concept of sculpture in an expanded field, i.e. artwork that responds to local–specific facts, although not in direct relation to politics or history.
