The Technical University of Košice currently reigns over the Slovak research institutions in the international Web of Science (WoS) database. It has been ranked in first place based on the highest number of registered scientific publications, reviews and profiles of researchers.

WoS is a bibliographic and citation database that serves as a primary source for searching for reputable scientific information and evaluating scientific publishing activities. It contains eight main citation indexes. WoS indexes include journal titles, books, and conference proceedings that cover 251 subject categories from natural, technical, medical sciences to art and humanities.

Today, the Web of Science database represents an evaluation environment for science worldwide, is used to evaluate and compare the results of scientific publishing on the basis of transparent and globally accepted criteria.
