St. Gorazd Award

University Highlights

The Ministry of Education gave the Grand Medal, the Minor Medal, and the Appreciation Letter of St. Gorazd to educators, who contributed to the education development in Slovakia.

The ceremony took place on April 29, in the premises of the Winter Riding Hall of the Bratislava Castle. Moral awards in the education sector bearing the name of St. Gorazd are the highest degree of appreciation for teachers in the education sector and have been given since 1997. „This year's St. Gorazd's awards prove how teachers can influence the lives of students and thus change their community and the world for the better. We appreciate the dedication, diligence, perseverance, effort, and achievements of teachers, pupils, and students. These are the values that make up our society and help it to move forward,“ said the Minister of Education, Branislav Gröhling, on the occasion of the award ceremony.

Moral awards in the education sector bearing the name of St. Gorazd are the highest level of recognition for educators in the sector. The Award of St. Gorazd was given to 60 teachers and 30 pupils and students by the Minister of Education. There were also teachers and a student from the Technical University of Košice among the awarded:

The Grand Medal of St. Gorazd: prof. Ing. Tomáš Havlík, DrSc.
(Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling)

  • for outstanding results in education in the field of hydrometallurgy of primary and secondary raw materials, waste recycling and environmental thinking.

The Appreciation Letter of St. Gorazd: doc. RNDr. Jana Pócsová, PhD.
(Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnologies)

  • for an outstanding contribution to the development and use of new teaching methods and new comprehensive electronic teaching materials for students.

St. Gorazd Award: Ing. Samuel Andrejčík
(a student at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics)

  • for the successful representation of Slovakia at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020, where he won two gold medals in the category BC4 - individuals and in the category BC4 - couples.
