On 13^th July 2022, 27 new university professors took over appointment decrees in the fields of habilitation procedure and inaugural procedure (HP and IP) from the President of the Slovak Republic, Zuzana Čaputová. Among the newly appointed professors were also members of the academic community of the Technical University in Košice:

• prof. Ing. Stanislav Jacko, PhD., from the Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnologies TUKE, appointed in the field of HP and IP “The Mining Geology and Geological Survey”,

• prof. Ing. Tomáš Bakalár, PhD., from the Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnologies TUKE, appointed in the field of HP and IP “The Acquisition and Processing of Earth Resources”,

• prof. Ing. Juraj Gazda, PhD., from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics TUKE, appointed in the field of HP and IP “Informatics”,

• prof. Ing. Peter Drotár, PhD., from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics TUKE, appointed in the field of HP and IP “Informatics”

and

• prof. RNDr. Martin Pipíška, PhD., from the University of Trnava, appointed in the field of HP and IP “Environmental Engineering” at the TUKE Faculty of Civil Engineering.

During her speech, the President asked the newly appointed professors not to consider their success as the end of their academic career, but as its new, even more significant beginning. “For the beginning of the stage in which you will hand over everything you have now to society. You, as top representatives of the academic community, have a fundamental influence on the formation of the entire academic environment, as well as on the educational level of society,” she said.
